TO THE VIRGINS
(after Robert Herrick)
Gather ye condoms while ye may,
Else Time may send you flying:
And never let your lovers say
You died for want of trying.
To fire the blunderbus of youth
Young men are ever willing,
And with its grape too oft in truth
Their targets are a-filling.
Hide not your weapon on the shelf,
But in the safe position
First set the catch, and to yourself
Reserve its ammunition.
Then use a condom every time,
For AIDS is naught but folly:
And if you catch it in your prime,
You'll never more be jolly.
